(WLFI)-A bill that is on its way to the Indiana Senate would repeal the law that requires a person to obtain a license to carry a handgun in Indiana. Several police agencies have spoken out against the bill. However, the author of the bill says that criminals don t follow gun laws anyway. The state of Indiana started requiring gun owners to obtain an open carry license in 1983. The author of the bill is Representative Ben Smaltz. His bill would allow any law-abiding citizen 18 and over to carry a hand gun in public without a license.
