The 30th High1 Seoul Music Awards (SMA) ceremony was held on Jan. 31 to honor outstanding artists who released music from January to December 2020.
BTS won six awards including the most important of the night: the “daesang” or grand prize, their fourth straight year to bag the trophy. They also won a bonsang (main prize), best album, best song, WhosFandom award and K-Wave (Hallyu) award.
Winning the bonsang are BTS, Kang Daniel, NCT 127, Stray Kids, ATEEZ, Monsta X, TXT, NU’EST, IZ ONE, Seventeen, TWICE and Oh My Girl.
The Seoul Music Awards show first began in 1990 and is held annually by
Sports Seoul to recognize outstanding achievements in the Korean music industry. The winners are selected from the past year of releases by calculating 20% mobile votes, 10% Sports Seoul s popularity poll, 40% digital downloads and album sales, and 30% judge scores. (Popularity awards are decided 100% by a popularity poll.)

K-pop superstars BTS won the “daesang” (grand prize), or Album of the Year, on the second day of the 35th Golden Disc Awards (GDA) held on Jan. 10 and hosted by actress Lee Da-hee and singer Sung Si-kyung.
This is BTS’ fourth straight year to win the Album of the Year at GDA after bagging it for the years 2017, 2018 and 2019.
BTS took home the daesang for “Map of the Soul: 7,” which was released on Feb. 21, 2020 and recorded 4.37 million copies in sales for the year, according to Gaon Music Chart’s Album Chart. They also won a “bonsang” (main prize) and the Most Popular Artist award.

Global pop stars BTS have concluded the award show performances in South Korea on a high note. The seven members - RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, attended Day 2 of the 35th Golden Disc Awards on Sunday, January 10, 2021. The group won the Best Album Daesang (Grand Prize) at the awards ceremony making it their 4th year in a row winning the GDA Album Daesang!
Apart from winning Best Digital Song Bonsang (Main Prize) for their Grammy-nominated track Dynamite during the awards night on Day 1, on Day 2 they also took home the Popularity Award and Best Album Bonsang as well.

The winners for the annual Golden Disc Awards ceremony were finally announced! Among them, BLACKPINK, BTS, IU, Hwasa, Jessi, and many more were hailed as winners for their respective categories.
At the 35th
Golden Disc Awards with CURAPROX, which was broadcasted on Jan. 9, Saturday, an award ceremony for the digital music categories was held.
Meanwhile, digital music at the 35th Golden Disc Awards will be awarded to digital music releases from November 2019 to November 2020.
Due to the surge of coronavirus, proper social distancing protocols were observed that s why only minimal interactions from idols can be seen, but the ceremony was brightened up by actors Park Sodam and Lee Seung Gi, who were the star MCs of the night.
