SURFSIDE BEACH, Texas A Brazoria County woman has been added to the Texas DPS list of 10 Most Wanted Fugitives.
Margaret Lorrain Smith, 62, is wanted on capital murder charges in connection with the 2007 death of her husband George.
Investigators say Margaret lured George to a Surfside Beach late one August night where a man she hired beat him to death with a metal object. He was unrecognizable, according to Brazoria County investigators.

HOUSTON – A Brazoria County woman charged with hiring a man to kill her husband nearly 14 years ago is now listed as one of Texas’ 10 most wanted fugitives.
Margaret Lorrain Smith, who would now be 62 years old, has been wanted since allegedly fleeing during her capital murder case in 2009.
Texas Crime Stoppers is offering a reward up to $7,500 for information that leads to her arrest.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Margaret Smith is accused of luring her husband George Smith to Surfside Beach late on Aug. 6, 2007. While he was sitting in the sand alone, a man she authorities claim she hired beat George Smith to death with a metal object.

SAN ANTONIO – A woman who was charged in the slaying of her husband and added to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list was last seen in San Antonio.
Margaret Lorrain Smith, 62, has been on the run since 2009, when she fled Brazoria County before her murder trial for the death of George Smith, according to DPS.
She was last seen getting into a four-door sedan, possibly a Lincoln Continental, at a Walmart in the San Antonio area.
