A bi-partisan House Health Care Plan that aims to curb health care costs includes a measure sponsored by a local lawmaker.
Lawmakers announced the plan Wednesday that they say will improve the quality of health care while making it more accessible and affordable for people in Michigan. Republican State Representative Ann Bollin of Brighton Township said the plan focuses on three main goals: Lowering the cost of prescription medicine, increasing access to care and making every level of the health-care industry step up and provide a higher standard of care.
Bollin is sponsoring a measure to expand access to telehealth services that would ensure out-of-state physicians can provide telemedicine services to people in Michigan without overly burdensome licensure requirements. First indictment announced in connection with federal probe of Brighton Rehab

The Pennsylvania Attorney General s Office and U.S. Attorney Scott Brady have announced Thursday the first federal court indictment in connection with the state s investigation into the administration of Beaver County s Brighton Rehabilitation and Wellness Center.
However, the woman indicted is not directly linked with the Brighton Township nursing home that was hit with a massive COVID-19 outbreak this past year.
Susan Gilbert, 60, of the Lawrence section of Cecil Township, Washington County, is the former administrator of Allegheny County s Mount Lebanon Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, which is part of a group that owns multiple long-term care facilities in the state including Brighton.
