PEORIA, Ill. A Peoria man has been convicted for the death of his 6-month-old daughter.
According to Peoria County Court records, 21-year-old Kyle Purser pleaded guilty to First Degree Murder yesterday (Tuesday).
On September 8, 2019 police were called to Purser’s home after the infant stopped breathing.
The baby was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said the cause of death was suffocation.
The death was ruled a homicide, and Purser was arrested the next day.
Purser will be required to serve 100% of a 20 year sentence and 3 years of mandatory supervised release. He will get credit for 517 days of time already served.

SPRINGFIELD (WEEK) - A man who used to live in Peoria and Lincoln faces charges including predatory criminal sexual assault after police say multiple victims came forward about alleged abuse.
Illinois State Police said Thursday that they arrested Elijah T. G. Sowers, 24, who now lives in Riverview Florida.
Authorities said the investigation started when multiple victims disclosed the abuse in late November and early this month.
Sowers faces two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault in Peoria County Court. He s charged in Logan County with one count of predatory criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
