As Monday’s game ended, St. Louis’ Robert Bortuzzo’s helmet came off before he was pulled apart from Ryan Graves. Pierre-Edouard Bellemare lost his own lid as he tussled with the Blues’ Zach Sanford.
Even Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington headed down the ice and pointed his stick at winning goaltender Philipp Grubauer as an official towed him away.

The Avs got their first puck on net 5:56 into the first period after the Blues had fired three already but finished the frame with an 18-5 edge in shots on goal and a 1-0 advantage on the scoreboard. There was even more fire power from the teams in the middle stanza with Colorado leading the category 14-11 through it and eventually finished the game with a plus-27 shot differential.

Gabriel Landeskog had a game that one of the NHL s greatest players of all time would have been proud of, as the Colorado Avalanche captain recorded a Gordie Howe Hat Trick with a goal, an assist and a fight in Game 1 of the team s first-round playoff series against the St. Louis Blues.
Landeskog and his linemates of Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen set the tone in the contest and contributed three goals in the third period on Monday at Ball Arena to give the Avalanche a 4-1 win versus the rival Blues.
