Kitsap Humane Society: Lee Harper hired as new executive director

SILVERDALE - Kitsap Humane Society has hired Lee Harper as executive director after a months-long effort to find someone to lead the organization. She officially began on April 5. Harper has more than 10 years of experience working as executive director of the Phinney Neighborhood Association in Seattle, according to an announcement from KHS. There she worked to build community through things like a senior center, farmers market, childcare programming, art education, and more. She appreciated the Kitsap Humane Society’s (KHS) community presence and work with other local organizations and businesses.  This position attracted her, allowing her to combine her interests in nonprofits, strengthening community, and animals.

Greenwood s Yonder Cider to remain open after Seattle City Council approves microbusiness bill by Callie Craighead, SeattlePI Greenwood s Yonder Bar will get to keep their garage doors open for at least another year after the Seattle City Council approved a bill that loosened restrictions on home-based microbusinesses in the city. The Bringing Businesses Home bill passed 8-1 on Monday with Councilmember Alex Pedersen in sole opposition. Sponsored by Councilmembers Dan Strauss and Teresa Mosqueda as well as President Lorena Gonzalez, the bill will ease citywide restrictions for one year during the COVID-19 pandemic, suspending these regulations for home-based businesses: Customer visits are by appointment only
