CHATHAM, Va. â On Friday, Pittsylvania County Schools (PCS) hosted its first vaccine clinic at Victory Academy on Main Street in Chatham.
The clinic ran from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the Pfizer vaccine was administered to children ages 12 and up. The follow-up clinic is scheduled for July 9 at Victory Academy, where the students will receive their second dose.
There were several individuals involved with PCS administration who worked together to make this vaccine clinic a reality. Special education coordinator Katie Hawker teamed up with Karen Yeatts, school nurse coordinator for Pittsylvania County Schools, to organize the clinic and make sure everything was running smoothly. Hawker credited health director Dr. Spillman with getting the ball rolling for the school system-wide clinic.
