BMW Motorrad is throwing it all the way back to the ‘20s, with the latest project for the “SoulFuel” series, which sees it partnering with select customizers. This time, it’s legendary Dirk Oehlerking of Kingston Custom who’s doing all the custom work for a one-off project he calls Spirit of Passion. It’s full-on retro, with a superb Kingston Custom fairing that, some might argue, completely reshapes the identity of the BMW R 18 underneath.

What you’re looking at in the cover photo is known as Spirit. Its creator, Anja Didrichsons of Munich, Germany, based the design around functions and aspects of the BMW Motorrad family. If you take a close look at the gallery and the video below, you’ll see quite a bit of those aspects coming through.
Now, the idea behind the project is quite simple. Obviously, it’s a motorcycle that aims to create a symbiosis between human and machine. But to do so in reality has proven to be rather difficult. So, for now, all we have is this digital representation of where future technology could be headed. How about we dream a little?

BMW Motorrad, the two-wheeler arm of German luxury carmaker BMW, on Tuesday, said its sales increased 6.65 per cent last year at 2,563 units from 2,403 units in 2019.
In the last quarter of 2020 (October-December), the dispatches grew by over 51 percent as compared to the same period in 2019.
In a particularly tough year, BMW Motorrad once again delivered a stellar performance against all odds and became the number one selling premium motorcycle brand.
This hard-earned success came on the back of carefully planned launches, a visionary strategy and most importantly our relentless focus on what our customers desire,” BMW Group India President Vikram Pawah said in a statement.
