VICTORIA Nanaimo RCMP say a woman was airlifted to hospital Tuesday after being attacked by wolfdogs living in a pen on private property. The wolfdogs are described as a mixture of wolf and domestic dog, according to RCMP. The incident occurred at a rural property in South Wellington, south of Nanaimo, around 10 a.m. Mounties say that the 69-year-old woman entered the pen where the three wolfdogs lived when the attack occurred. Police say the woman had been inside the pen and visited with the animals many times before. However, for unknown reasons, the wolfdogs attacked the woman Tuesday.

Invasive mussels found in B.C. woman’s aquarium
BC Conservation Officers made an alarming discovery on Saturday.
A woman in Terrace found invasive Zebra mussels in her aquarium.
Conservation Officers south of the border first alerted authorities in Canada that shipments of moss balls, decorative plants that are often used in aquariums and ponds, were found contaminated with the mussel.
The moss balls were imported from Europe and sold widely at pet stores and plant emporiums.
The BC Conservation Officers Service issued a warning on social media about the moss balls on Friday, and less than 24 hours later, issued this tweet.
