Wolverhampton will now host British Art Show 9 (BAS9) in January 2022 after new dates for the touring exhibition were announced by organisers after consultation with the partner cities.
The event – which is the biggest touring exhibition of contemporary art in the UK – will take place in the city between 22 January and 10 April 2022.
Wolverhampton was due to host the opening of the exhibition in March 2021 however, due to the continuing impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown restrictions, the dates and order of the tour have been rescheduled. British Art Show 9 will now open in Aberdeen in July 2021.
In Wolverhampton, British Art Show 9 will take place at Wolverhampton Art Gallery and the University of Wolverhampton School of Art.

Recordings of this ancient conch shell transformed into a horn provide a time capsule into what sounds it was able to emit, tones that turned out to be in close proximity to the musical notes C, D and C sharp. These sonorous notes were extracted by a musicologist recruited by the researchers, who used a modern metal mouthpiece and blew into the shell’s customized opening.
“I needed a lot of air to maintain the sound,” said Jean-Michel Court, who performed the demonstration.
According to a new open-access study published last week in Science Advances, the remarkable shell is a large specimen of C. lampas, a mollusk heralding from the North-East Atlantic and the North Sea. Today, it can be found in Ireland and France (Brittany, Pas-de-Calais) at its northern borders. Although rare, it still lives in the Bay of Biscay and Basque and Asturian coasts of Spain.

A convicted paedophile from Britain began a six-month prison sentence in France today after being caught running through the Channel Tunnel.
Ryan Murryland, 31, was caught in the undersea link on December 21, causing all trains to be stopped at a cost of some £45,000.
Appearing in court in Boulogne-sur-Mer, northern France, on Monday afternoon, he said he had no memory of what happened, and said he was not guilty.
But CCTV images clearly showed Murryland, who is from Manchester, in the Channel Tunnel and being stopped by French police.
