WATCH: National Guard soliders administer vaccines in Quartzsite U.S. Army National Guard soldiers helped to prepare and administer COVID-19 vaccines on Wednesday at a La Paz County Health Department site in Quartzsite. Arizona National Guardsmen are scheduled to continue assisting the administering of COVID-19 vaccines, as well as helping to distribute the vaccination to sites throughout Arizona. The La Paz County Health Department posted on Facebook, saying: “We want to thank our Quartzsite and Buckskin Fire Departments, the Arizona National Guard and several volunteers for assisting us in our Covid-19 vaccination clinics! This week we vaccinated 520 individuals at our Parker clinic and 600 at our Quartzsite clinic.”

Latest Numbers on COVID-19 in Arizona, Yuma and La Paz Counties

Feb. 12  The Arizona Department of Health Services reported 2,426 new cases of COVID-19 throughout the state and 172 additional deaths related to the virus.  The state has administered 1,096,126 COVID vaccines to Arizonans.  In Yuma County, 28,059 residents have received the vaccine. In La Paz County, 3,581 residents have received the vaccine.    Feb. 11  The Yuma County Health District reported 24 new cases today and 5 additional deaths related to COVID-19.  It brings the total number of cases countywide to 35,907 and deaths to 750. As of 8 a.m. Thursday, there were 60 patients hospitalized at Yuma Regional Medical Center and 26 in the intensive care unit.  As of Jan. 24 the percentage of positive tests for Yuma County was at 16%.

30 people in La Paz County have now died from the coronavirus The coronavirus has now taken the lives of 30 people in La Paz County, with 12 deaths this month alone. Several of those infected had no known underlying health conditions. There are 1,196 cases in the county at the time this article was written. The La Paz County Health Department added 6 additional deaths to the tragic tally on Tuesday, as a surge in the virus infected record numbers of people countywide. Two were in the Parker service district, one in McMullen Valley, one in Quartzsite, one in Bouse and another in Ehrenberg. All but one were reported to be over the age of 65 years old.
