A mini bus driver, Mrs Remilekun Adeyemi, had just returned from her fourth trip. “Ogba-Agege, Ogba-Agege,” she called on passengers. It was 11am and the loading of passengers was slow because the early morning rush had subsided.
She moved a little bit further into the lay-by at Berger, hoping to fill up her bus. Her other co-male driver plying the same route, who sat in his vehicle with his head outside the bus’ window also called on passengers in a contending manner.

Benin, May 4, 2021 Dr Godwin Ehigiamusoe, the Managing Director, Lift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO) Group, has urged flexible and innovative processes in the provision of micro insurance products to small businesses.
Ehigiamusoe, also the Chief Executive Officer of LAPO Microfinance Bank (LAPO MFB) made the call in an interview with newsmen in Benin on Tuesday.
He said that the adoption of innovative and flexible processes by micro insurance companies would encourage small business owners to key into insurance policies.
“The micro insurance company should be able to convince owners of micro and small businesses to get insurance because the low income earners generally do not give priority to insurance.

The partnership is seeking to expand LAPO’s microfinance business to some of the continent’s less developed economies and fragile states. IFC is a member of the World Bank Group. Under the partnership, IFC will conduct market analysis of several African countries, including fragile states, and provide advisory support to LAPO to help it expand its microfinance business beyond Nigeria and Sierra Leone, where it currently operates with more than 495 branches, serving over 800,000 customers.
LAPO’s planned microfinance expansion will help boost financial inclusion and increase lending to individuals and micro and small businesses in the region, stimulating economic activity. The expansion will specifically target women borrowers, low-income earners, and those in rural areas.

NGO seeks proper nutrition for Nigerian children

A Non-Governmental Organisation, Lift Above Poverty Organisation, (LAPO), has called for concerted efforts to ensure proper nutrition for Nigerian children in order to protect their overall well-being.
Mr Honestus Obadiora, Executive Director, LAPO made the call while speaking at the 2021 International School Meals Day (ISMD) organised by LAPO at Bejide Group of Schools in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Obadiora, represented by Mrs Sandra Asowata, Head, LAPO NGO, Western Region, said the ISMD was commemorated annually on the second Thursday in the month of March.
