Across the province, there have been rumblings that hair salons, spas and gyms would flout provincial health restrictions tied to the pandemic and open their doors this week â potentially exposing small business operators to big fines.
At least one did so Monday. It was promptly charged by Lethbridge police for contravening a public health order.

Meanwhile, a petition started by Medicine Hat small business owner Paul Hemsing has garnered more than 11,000 signatures in just a few days, calling on the province to allow the beauty and spa industry to get back to work immediately, âfollowing the strictest health guidelines and protocols.â
