California State CIF not allowing Track & Field Regional Championships due to COVID-19 -

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – California State CIF is not allowing local regional Track & Field championships this year, due to COVID-19 concerns. Even after nearly every other state saw safe and successful youth sports seasons and championships, State CIF “will not be hosting State Championships in swim & dive, track & field, and wrestling.” Southern California Regional Championship events will be offered for baseball, basketball, golf, soccer, softball, tennis and boys volleyball. As a result of State CIF’s decision, our track and field athletes are saddened to hear they will not be given the chance to become champions, something they have been dreaming of.

Rancho Peñasquitos community invited to voice concerns over proposed Juniper Project -

RANCHO PENASQUITOS (KUSI) – Tuesday, the San Diego City Planning Commission held a virtual public hearing on an application for the development of The Junipers, Lennar’s proposed project to build 526 homes and apartments. If the Juniper Project is approved, northeast Rancho Peñasquitos could be home to nearly 3,000 housing units, nearly doubling the current supply. Community residents, including board members of the PQ-NE Action Group nonprofit, are prepared to voice their concerns about impacts of The Junipers to their community’s infrastructure, fire evacuations, traffic, air quality and lifestyle if the project is recommended for City Council approval. Joe Pierzina, Board Member, PQ-NE Action Group, who is against the development, joined KUSI’s Paul Rudy on Good Morning San Diego to discuss the project and share why they are looking for community input.

Police stop suspected drunk driver, discover autonomous tech in control

“Drivers need to understand that they are responsible for what their vehicle is doing,” Const. Maury Tyre told Vancouver Island Free Daily. “There simply are no exceptions to this rule. If you wish to try out the new bells and whistles in your vehicle, an empty parking lot is going to be a lot safer than a public roadway, but even still, you are responsible for your vehicle. Modern transport has definitely added a lot of safety and comfort features over the years, but they are just not a replacement for an attentive driver.” It’s hard to blame anyone with an autonomously capable vehicle for trying the tech. Wouldn’t you?
