Fete may show ‘fake or fortune’ Picture: Supplied FLINDERS Fake or Fortune fete will be held at St Johns Church hall, 10am-2.30pm, Saturday 6 March. The 82nd fete, which provides much-needed funds for community work and peninsula charities, has been online but now it is going live for a special event in a slightly different format. The online fete had support from donated paintings plus Christmas specials, cakes, biscuits, jams, pickles and locally-made craft. A new feature will be a Flinders Fake or Fortune Fete event based on the popular BBC Antiques Roadshow plus some interesting stalls. Organisers Mary Iles and Patricia Macdonald said experts Warren Joel and Paul Sumner would be on hand to value items for those wanting to know more about them. A MAN who lashed out at police officers who went to arrest him for breaching a restraining order has been jailed.

Blackburn Magistrates Court A WOMAN who told police her partner had slapped her during a row refused to make a formal statement. Blackburn magistrates heard Liliam Toma admitted to police what he had done and described it as a momentary loss of control. Toma, 32, of Ebor Street, Burnley, pleaded guilty to assault. He was fined £200 with £85 costs and £34 victim surcharge. Paul Sumner, prosecuting, said police spoke to the victim when they arrived and she told them there had been a verbal argument during which her partner had slapped her. She didn t want to make a statement and there is no application for a restraining order, said Mr Sumner.
