A Christian member of the Finnish Parliament is facing six years imprisonment for allegedly committing three crimes, including âhate speech,â for sharing her opinion on marriage and human sexuality on social media, on television and in a pamphlet.
The countryâs chief prosecutor has brought three criminal charges against Finnish Member of Parliament and former Minister of the Interior, Päivi Räsänen, according to the Austria-based Christian legal group ADF International.
The politician, who is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland and former chair of the Christian Democrats, has been under police investigation since June 2019 for publicly voicing her opinion on marriage and human sexuality in a 2004 pamphlet, for comments made on a 2018 TV show, and a tweet directed at her church leadership.

Current Finnish Member of Parliament and former Minister of the Interior Päivi Räsänen was charged on three hate crime counts, with the investigation being triggered by her posting Romans 1:24-27 in response to the participation of the Finnish Lutheran Church in the 2019 LGBT Pride festival.

Also on the agenda is an update to the city’s employee handbook.
According to Harvey, there is much in the handbook that needs updated, including the pay rates for employees.
“You guys may know the rates, but there’s nothing in the handbook,” he told his fellow council members in April.
“At some point we need to discuss whether we pay a cost-of-living increase … I don’t think we can just make it up as we go,” he said.
Butler made the motion to pursue that issue as well, and Paul Coleman seconded it.
Other items on the agenda include an ordinance establishing a fee for research and/or copying necessary for all Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, a discussion on the use of city equipment by non-city employees, the Back Street Festival Prayer Day, and more.
