Unison Arts Reopens for New Season | April 16
Let’s hear it for first and safe steps. New Paltz’s integral Unison Arts center recently announced its return to in-person events programming this month. The 2021 season kicks off with a limited-attendance (30 guests), Unison members-only indoor concert by local blues kings Big Joe Fitz and the Lo-Fi’s on April 16 at 7pm; a members-only Chilean wines tasting takes place on April 17. From there, Unison’s outdoor stage begins welcoming public audiences (60 persons maximum; advance ticket purchase required), commencing with a swing dance featuring the Bernstein Bard Trio on April 24 at 5pm. Tickets are $15.
Piedmont looking at possible garbage program

PIEDMONT - A Piedmont City Council member would like to see the town revisit the idea of contracting with a garbage hauler for the residents.
Paul Coleman has taken a look at what other towns in the area do with their residents’ garbage, and notes that by contracting with a hauler, the city could turn the problem of accumulating garbage into a source of revenue.
Several years ago Piedmont itself hauled garbage for the town residents, but when the city-owned trash truck broke down, the city officials at the time decided it would be too expensive to replace the equipment.
Four arrested after woman sustained serious injuries at Spalding property

A woman has sustained serious injuries at a property in Spalding.
Officers were called to a property on Cradge Bank just after 11am on Monday, April 5, where they found the 39-year-old woman and she was taken to hospital.
Three men and one woman have been arrested and are currently in police custody for questioning. They are aged 50, 51, 55 and 48 respectively.

Det Inspector Paul Coleman, who is leading the investigation, said: âWeâre working hard to try and establish exactly what caused the injuries to this woman. We are exploring a number of options and making sure we keep an open mind.â
Tribute has been paid to unsung Spalding hero

Friends and family have paid tributes to an unsung hero of the district who died recently.
Mollie Wheeler died on March 19 aged 88, but leaves behind an impressive legacy of community work that touched many lives across South Holland.
She helped Spalding Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Society (SADOS) - selling programmes at their events - and also gave her time generously to the Royal British Legion, Western Front Association and the League of Friends of Johnson Hospital.

Mrs Wheeler also attended the St Mary and St Nicholas Parish Church, was a member of the Mothersâ Union and latterly went to social events at Broad Street Methodist Church.
