Dairy Barn Arts Center to hold Quilt National Dairy Barn Arts Center The Dairy Barn Arts Center is proud to announce the opening of “Quilt National ‘21: The Best in Contemporary Quilts.” Quilt National is a juried, biennial exhibition that features new artworks by 84 artists from 14 countries. The exhibition will be on view May 29 to Sept. 6 and will feature local artist Nancy Crasco, of Brighton. A BFA graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Crasco earned a master’s degree at Lesley University and has been working in fiber since 1968, actively exhibiting her work nationally and internationally since 1975. Her work is often based on the intricacies of nature, and the effects that modern society has on the ecology of the earth. Her imagery is achieved through the use of various printing processes, including linoleum, gelatin plate, and a photocopier, in combination with stitching and embroidery. But last summer, when we determined renting an Airbnb would allow us to social distance while hitting the beach, my husband suggested we try somewhere new to help us break out of our COVID fog of everyday-is-the-sameness. As we’d already enjoyed several carefully strategized, socially distant daytrips to Cape May Point, I was all in when he suggested Ventnor, somewhere neither of us had ever been. We scored an affordable and well-appointed Dutch Colonial a few blocks from the beach, and walking there under the canopy of Ventnor’s many mature trees was one of the highlights of our trip.

(Photo Provided) PARKERSBURG An opening reception with textile art demonstrations for “Flora, Fauna and Landscape,” a textile art exhibit at the Parkersburg Art Center, is scheduled for 1:30-3 p.m. Sunday, Textile artists and teachers from Chile traveled to the United States in August 2019 to exhibit 10 of their art quilts. The trip was sponsored by Bernina Chile to promote a month-long, side gallery exhibit of their work during Quilt National 2019 at The Dairy Barn Arts Center in Athens, Ohio.
