Local Area Sees Slight Increase in COVID-19 Cases

Des Moines, IA (KICD)– The Iowa Department of Public Health is reporting 491 new cases of COVID-19 in the state as of 11 a.m. Friday taking the pandemic total to 391,616 cases and 5,907 virus-related deaths.
Locally, the largest 24-hour increase is in Dickinson County with five new cases followed by two in Kossuth, O’Brien and Palo Alto Counties, one new case each in Buena Vista, Cherokee, Osceola and Pocahontas Counties, no change in Emmet County and a one case REDUCTION in Clay County.
Minnesota health officials added 2,167 new cases Friday morning taking the state to more than 564 thousand total cases and 7,064 deaths. The update includes six new cases in Jackson County and two in Nobles County.

IA, (KICD) The Iowa Department of Public Health is reporting 560 new cases of COVID-19 in the state as of 12 P.M. Tuesday taking the pandemic total to 389,906 total cases and 5,893 virus-related deaths.
Locally, the largest increase was in Dickinson County with 7 new cases, followed by Osceola, Emmet, and Clay Counties with 6 each. Cherokee, and O’Brien Counties with 3 each, Kossuth County with 2, and Buena Vista, and Palo Alto Counties with 1 case each. There were no new cases reported in Pocahontas County.
Minnesota health officials added 1,185 cases Tuesday morning, taking the state to 558,850 total cases and 7,031 deaths. The update includes 4 new cases in Nobles County and 1 new case in Jackson County.
Early April Rains Lead Some Good News in Drought Condtions

Washington, DC (KICD)– Dry conditions for farmers here in the KICD Broadcast area improved in this morning’s USDA Drought Monitor.
Most of O’Brien County and half of Clay county, as well as very small slivers of Osceola, Lyon, Sioux, Cherokee, and Palo Alto Counties have been in the D-3 “Extreme Drought” category all winter but were upgraded to a D-2 listing this week.
Last summer Northwest Iowa was the only area of Extreme Drought North and East of Texas, but in the past few months the Dakotas have been placed into that category.
Iowa Health Officials Report No COVID-19 Deaths for Third Consecutive Day

Locally, the largest 24-hour increase in cases is in Dickinson County with 14 followed by eight in Emmet County, five in Kossuth, four new cases in O’Brien County, three in Osceola and Pocahontas Counties, two each in Buena Vista, Clay, and Palo Alto Counties and no change in Cherokee County.
