The Sioux Empire is the land of chislic, with the local staple on nearly every restaurant menu within 50 miles.
Chislic is salted cubes of meat, such as mutton, beef, venison or goat, that is deep fat fried or grilled. It s often served skewered or on toothpicks with a side of crackers or dipping sauces.
But who has the best chislic?
The Argus Leader Chislic Tasting Team was on the quest to find out. And we have some surprising answers for you.
Last month, I asked you to tell me your favorite chislic eateries in the Sioux Falls area. Most of them were sports bars, and one person even said NOT SIOUX FALLS GO TO FREEMAN.
As more people are feeling comfortable about going out for the evening, the weather warms, and the state eases restrictions, smaller venues are bringing in singers, bands, and other forms of entertainment.
