TRP Scam: Complainant Hansa Research Group Not Immune From Investigation, Mumbai Police Tells Bombay High Court

Hansa Research Group, the complainant in the Television Rating Points Scam (TRP Scam) has sought to transfer the investigation into the scam, from the Mumbai Police to the CBI, only after realising its nexus with the accused TV channels was being investigated, the Mumbai Police has said in an affidavit to the Bombay High Court. Five of the 15 people arrested by the Mumbai Police in the TRP Scam are former employees of Hansa Research Group and two other former senior officers of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), the affidavit states. Hansa Research was hired to install Bar-o-meters in select households to gauge the viewing pattern of television programmes.

The data reflects the top 10 advertisers and brands across genres on India’s television, 2+ Individuals, NCCS. All demonstrating ads that were inserted the most in week 3 of 2021. Top Advertisers: It was followed by Reckitt Benckiser India, which ranked second with 193084 ad generations. Ponds India bagged the third rank this time with 37798 ad AMA. TRP scam: HC asks ARG Media to complete its pleadings by Feb 9

The Bombay High Court on Friday directed ARG Outlier Media, the company that runs all Republic TV channels, to complete by February 9 its pleadings on its plea related to the Television Rating Points (TRP) scam case before the high court. A bench of Justices S S Shinde and Manish Pitale also accepted the statement made by senior counsel Kapil Sibal, who appeared for the Maharashtra government, that the police will not take any coercive action against Republic TV editor-in- chief Arnab Goswami, and other employees of ARG Outlier Media, till February 12, the next date of hearing in the case. ARG Outlier Media had approached the high court last year, seeking, among other things, that the police be restrained from taking coercive action against its employees.
