Earlier this year, Mazda was named the best car brand of 2021, but we doubt that New Zealand citizens will feel quite so good about the Japanese automaker a year from now. See, the Australasian country, specifically the province of Taranaki, has been going through a strange phenomenon: the theft of older Mazda cars. Apparently, there s some sort of social media challenge that is going viral, and this is causing teenagers to film themselves stealing cars that are easy to break into. Most of the cars being targeted are small Mazda runabouts, as they are perceived to be easy to get going with just a little hot-wiring.

For years, Elon Musk has made bold claims about how far Tesla is to attaining Level 5 autonomy in its cars. The Chevrolet Silverado is a workhorse, but as is usually the case, Ford is ahead of the game. It already offers a hybrid version of the F-150, and an all-electric model is in the works. But GM isn t waiting to get steamrolled, and has begun the process of getting its own electric pickup developed. There were rumors of such a vehicle back in February of 2019, and then again in June. But Chevy only admitted that those rumors were valid last month.

Tesla has added yet another impressive achievement to its growing list of them. According to sources familiar with the matter who tipped off Electrek, the all-electric automaker has already reached production capacity for the second quarter despite the fact that there are still two months remaining in the business period. Until now, it was expected both the heavily updated Tesla Model S and Model X would experience production bottlenecks following a previous delay.
That s still apparently happening. But the report indicates both the Model 3 and Model Y are sold out through July 1, 2021, even though both continue to experience price increases.
