We re talking at least 100 charging stalls.
General Motors owned the news spotlight over the past week following the reveal of the GMC Hummer EV SUV and the Silverado EV announcement. But there s a certain other automaker that continues to be a thorn in GM s side (and all other legacy brands). Tesla remains the global market EV leader and is expected to remain so for the foreseeable future. Earlier this week it added $50 billion to its value, now rated at $660 billion. To compare, GM is barely worth $90 billion. Tesla is unafraid of rivals and even welcomes them.
Another critical area where Tesla leads is charging infrastructure. It currently has 16,103 superchargers strategically located throughout the world, 908 of which are in the US. That number will soon increase to 918.
Can Mercedes take back the USA luxury sales crown this year?
With the worst of the pandemic s effects on the automotive industry hopefully behind us, the leading automakers would have been hoping for a much more positive start to 2021. Mercedes-Benz is one of those brands and it has just released its Q1 sales figures for the North American market. Overall, Mercedes-Benz sold 89,915 passenger vehicles and vans in the first three months of the year, representing a year-on-year increase of 19.5 percent. Unsurprisingly, the GLC-Class and GLE-Class luxury SUVs were once again the best-selling models in the automaker s lineup. Mercedes sold 78,256 passenger vehicles, better than BMW s total of 71,433 units in the same period.
Consumers all over the globe are snatching them up.
Despite the challenges brought by the pandemic, Volvo had a lot to celebrate in 2020. The Swedish automaker launched its first fully electric car, the XC40 Recharge, and achieved record-breaking sales in the second half of the year. Continuing this sales momentum, Volvo s global sales increased by a staggering 40.8 percent in Q1 2021 compared to the same period last year.
In total, Volvo sold 185,698 cars globally between January and March this year, up from 131,889 in Q1 2020. Impressively, these are the best first-quarter sales figures in the company s history. In March, Volvo sold 75,315 cars globally, a 62.3 percent increase compared to March 2020.

After all, this design also seems to borrow from that of the C3 Corvette, a classic that looked absolutely spectacular while retaining its American-ness . Bai s caption on the post mentions that his vision for this design was to pen what the Corvette might look like if there was less focus on increasing raw power and more interest in improving overall luxury and quality.
And considering how many electric cars are being released, ones that outperform traditional sports cars in almost every acceleration scenario, we can t help but think that a greater focus on making a good car rather than a powerful one could serve the Corvette nameplate well.
