(Brooklyn) - Family members of the woman accused of killing her six-year-old son last weekend in a room at the Fairfield Inn and Suites on Tiedeman Road say that the woman suffers from mental illness.
Daneicha Bringht is being held in the Cuyahoga County Jail on bond of $500,000 following a hearing in Parma Municipal Court on Monday. Prosecutors say a grand jury will now review facts of the case.
In an interview on Tuesday, Donald Bringht said his daughter was schizophrenic, and that the family had tried to work with the Department of Children and Family Services to remove little Kaamir Bringht from his mother s custody.

BROOKLYN, Ohio A Parma woman is accused of fatally shooting her son inside a Brooklyn hotel room, according to police.
Daneicha Bringht, 30, is charged with aggravated murder in the fatal shooting of her 6-year-old son Kaamir. Bringht is expected to make her first court appearance on Monday in Parma Municipal Court, according to police.
Bringht, after initially telling police someone else shot her son, later admitted that she shot the boy, according to court records. Police did not say why they believe Bringht shot her son.

Brooklyn police said Daneicha and her son Kaamir were at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in the 5100 block of Tiedeman Road.

CLEVELAND, Ohio A Cleveland police sex crimes detective is charged in connection with a domestic violence incident in Parma.
Det. Raul Atanacio, 39, is facing a first-degree misdemeanor charge of domestic violence. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Wednesday in Parma Municipal Court.
A judge released him on a personal bond.
Details of the incident were not made available late Friday by Cleveland officials or Parma police.
Court records say the incident happened Sunday. A warrant was issued for Atanacio’s arrest two days later.
