Parish councillors doubt this summer’s Bamburgh Festival will be able to go ahead as planned.

The chances of the event taking place in August in the light of the coronavirus pandemic were discussed by Bamburgh Parish Council.
Chairman Barbara Brook explained that she had received an email from festival committee member Ralph Baker-Cresswell asking for views on the feasibility of holding it.
She said: My view is that it looks like it could be quite difficult this year and perhaps everyone should be planning for 2022 when hopefully it will be a little surer.”

Funding for traffic calming measures in Bamburgh has been included in budget plans for the coming year.

Northumberland County Council has allocated £30,000 for the work in its provisional Local Transport Plan (LTP) for 2021/22.
The news was revealed by Cllr Guy Renner-Thompson after members of Bamburgh Parish Council had expressed frustration at the lack of progress on the issue.
He said: “I haven’t had any further update on the plans so we’ll have to wait and see what we get through but we’re moving in the right direction.”
Traffic calming measures are planned on the road into Bamburgh.
