COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus City Council met Tuesday evening and authorized the redevelopment commission to spend up to $3,662,670 to erect a new court services building for Bartholomew County. Dunlap Inc. will construct the edifice and Barth Electric Company has been contracted for electrical services.
The new structure is needed due to a land-swap agreement between the city and county in which the city takes ownership from the county of the block between Second and Third Streets, and Franklin Street and Lafayette Avenue. The city then assists the county with the construction of the new court services building south of the Bartholomew County Jail.
