President Ashraf Ghani has threatened to remove all government officials in Balkh if they fail to rescue the 9-year-old child named Abdul Rauf who was abducted in the province nearly three months ago.
Abdul Rauf’s father is in Kabul and his relatives said he has met with First Vice President Amrullah Saleh who has pledged to ensure the release of the child within the next 15 days.
“Thorough efforts are underway but the security agencies have found some clues that show progress in this respect,” said Ahmad Zia Worsaji, a media officer of the first vice president.
Illegal Armed Groups Obstruct Rescue of Balkh Child: Probe Team
A parliamentary commission that has gone to the northern province of Balkh to investigate the kidnapping of a child named Abdul Rauf said on Friday that the presence of more than 150 illegal armed groups in the province is obstructing the rescue of the child.
The MPs said they see lack of coordination between the security and intelligence agencies in the rescue operation of Abdul Rauf.
“Some people should have been arrested very early, but there is sign of negligence in this respect,” said Iqbal Safi, the head of the parliamentary commission.
