Three People Rescued from Clutch of Kidnappers in Balkh

Mazar-e-Sharif (BNA) Governor of Balkh announced the release of three people from clutch of kidnappers in that province.
Mohammad Farhad Azimi, governor of Balkh, announced today at a press conference the release of three kidnapped people in that province and said that the last kidnapped person was released from the kidnappers last night in Dehdadi district of that province.
He added that efforts are underway to free 9-year-old boy Abdul Rauf, which a number of suspects have arrested in connection with the incident.
Another report says, a boy was wounded and a Corolla car was damaged in a landmine explosion in the fourth district of Mazar-e-Sharif last night.
4 Arrested at Health Ministry for Demanding Bribes
Four people were arrested at the Ministry of Public Health for demanding bribes, the Attorney General Office’s spokesman Jamshid Rasouli said on Tuesday.
“Investigations are ongoing about the arrested people” Rasouli said, adding that “these people were arrested in coordination with the National Directorate of Security (NDS).
The source said that the brother and cousin of Health Minister Jawad Osmani, plus his adviser and the head of ministry projects, are the four people arrested on corruption charges.
The brother and cousin of the public health minister do not have official jobs in the ministry but sought bribes by using the minister s name, sources said.

KABUL: Three members of senate have been arrested for receiving bribe, the attorney general office said Monday.
The senators were arrested by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives while taking bribe in Balkh province, the office said in a statement. “The NDS operatives arrested three senators during an operation while they were taking 40,000 dollars,” it said.
The senators were in Balkh province to oversee some government affairs, but demanded and received bribe. However, it was not clear who gave them bribe and why.
Provincial Governor Farhad Azimi also confirmed that these senators were arrested there for taking 40,000 dollars as bribe and had been sent to Kabul for further investigation.
3 Senators Arrested for Accepting Bribes
Three members of Afghanistan’s Meshrano Jirga Mohammad Anwar Bashliq, Mohammad Azim Qoyash and Liyaqatullah Babakarkhil were arrested on charges of accepting $40,000 in bribe money from customs officials in Kunduz, the Attorney General’s Office said on Monday.
The arrest was made by the National Directorate of Security and the Attorney General’s Office, according to a statement.
“Three members of the Meshrano Jirga were arrested when accepting $40,000 as a bribe in a joint operation by the Attorney General’s Office and the National Directorate of Security, which was planned in response to intelligence reports. The issue is under investigation,” said Jamshid Rasuli, a spokesman for the Attorney General’s Office.
