Weyburn’s Tenille Arts took home three 2020 Saskatchewan Music Awards this weekend.
Arts won Country Artist of the Year, Single of the Year, with her song “Somebody Like That” which reached #9 in Canada on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Arts also won Album of the Year with “Love, Heartbreak, & Everything in Between”.
The show was held online Sunday evening, and themed around ‘retro communication formats,’ with references to Windows 98, AOL chats, MySpace, and more, acknowledging the virtual communication that has become a part of our daily life during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially for artists and the music industry who have turned to livestreamed concerts, online conferences, and video co-writing as ways to stay creative and connected.

Devon resident and award-winning recording artist Kym Simon excitedly announced the release of her latest single this week.
Simon’s latest single,
Ladies Night Out was released on Jan. 15, 2021. This will be her second single released during the pandemic, and is a feel-good tune to make her fellow ladies get up and dance. Simon co-wrote her latest single with fellow Devon-area resident Alicia Plosz, her long-time friend and co-writer.

“We’re both mothers and working businesswomen and we just started talking. At some point in life as you get older, and your kids are a little bit older … a lot of women feel like they don’t have time to go out or they don’t feel like they deserve to have a good time,” Simon explained.
