AFI Share New Song Tied To A Tree Tuesday, 25 May 2021
AFI have released a new song, Tied To A Tree.
The haunting, acoustic guitar-led track serves as the latest preview of the band s upcoming album, Bodies , due out on June 11. Guitarist Jade Puget said: This is not only my favourite song on the record, but an exemplification of the evolution of the band.
AFI have shared two new tracks.
Dulcería and Far Too Near serve as the latest previews of the band s upcoming LP, Bodies , due out on June 11 through Rise Records.
The former rolls out over a rumbling bassline and was co-written by AFI with The Smashing Pumpkins Billy Corgan. The latter, meanwhile, is an uptempo offering that wouldn t sound out of place on an LP by The Cure. Dulcería suggests, if you spend too much time in the candy store you may end up stuck to the floor, said vocalist Davey Havok. Billy and I have a great creative connection when we re writing together, added guitarist Jade Puget. It was inspiring to work with such a talented and legendary songwriter and Dulcería is a testament to that.

2021 Marks 30 Years of AFI
California’s AFI have been around 30 years this year. Davey Havok formed AFI in November 1991 with a couple of mates at school. Adam Carson joined shortly after and current members Hunter Burgan and Jade Puget joined in 1997 and 1998.
“I couldn’t do what I do in AFI in any other place,” says Jade Puget. “Davey and I have written songs together for over 20 years now. I couldn’t find the thing he and I have together anywhere else, nor the thing the four of us have when we come together. AFI is home for me and will always be that.”
AFI Confirm New Album Bodies , Post Two New Tracks Thursday, 25 February 2021
AFI have confirmed a new album is on the way.
The follow-up to 2017 s AFI (The Blood Album) and their 2018 EP The Missing Man is called Bodies and will be released on June 11 through Rise Records. It was produced by the band s guitarist Jade Puget and mixed by Tony Hoffer.
It will include the previously shared songs Twisted Tongues and Escape From Los Angeles, as well as the newly shared tracks Looking Tragic and Begging For Trouble. Discussing the former, frontman Davey Havok said: Looking Tragic addresses the theme of overstimulation resulting in desensitization. Melodic and driving, the song came to life quickly and immediately stood out as a track to make bodies, if not sentiments, move.
