JAMMU, May 3: Hailing the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for initiating farmer friendly initiatives, DDC Jammu Chairman, Bharat Bhushan Bodhi has asserted that the Union Government stands committed to provide MSP to farmers without any mediator to ensure that they get reasonable rates for their produce. He said that such initiatives are bound to usher in a new dawn of economic prosperity for the food producers across the nation. He stated this during a function after inaugurating a Wheat Procurement Centre at border Village Trewa in RS Pura here, today.
Addressing a limited gathering present on the occasion, Bharat Bhushan said that the procurement centre has been opened with a view to provide MSP to farmers at their door step. He further informed that this particular centre will benefit the farmers of 20 Panchayats and 50 villages of Block Arnia.

JAMMU, Mar 10: Following threat of en masse resignations by all District Development Council (DDC) chairpersons, vice chairpersons and members on the issue of Warrant of Precedence, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has called their representatives for discussions over the issue on May 12 after his return from the Union capital to resolve the deadlock.
After getting the invite from the Lieutenant Governor, the DDC representatives deferred their agitation as well as plan to resign en masse.

JAMMU: The newly-elected District Development Council (DDC) members on Wednesday called off their two-day long protest in support of better status and monthly honorarium, saying they have got an assurance from Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha whom they are meeting on Friday.
However, the DDC members said they will decide their future course of action after the meeting with the Lt Governor, reiterating their demand for cancellation of the warrant of precedence and honorarium scale set up by the Union Territory administration.
