Budget: Voluntary vehicle scrapping policy announced to phase out old vehicles Agencies February 1, 2021 New Delhi, Feb 1: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday announced a voluntary vehicle scrapping policy to phase out old and unfit vehicles under which the personal vehicles will undergo a fitness test in automated centres after 20 years while the commercial vehicles will undergo the test after 15 years. We are separately announcing a voluntary vehicle scrapping policy to phase out old and unfit vehicles. This will help in encouraging fuel-efficient, environment-friendly vehicles. Thereby, reducing vehicular pollution and oil import bill, said Sitharaman in the Parliament while presenting the Union Budget 2021-22.

Annoyed with police lathicharge on farmers in Baraut, the BKU Chief announced to march for Ghazipur borders along with thousands of farmers after holding the Khap Mahapanchayat at Baraut. He alleged that police resorted to lathicharge on farmers who were sleeping at the dharna sthal and removed them forcibly on the directions of the Chief Minister Yogi Adtyanath. “We will restart dharna again at Baraut from Sunday. Let the government dare to initiate action against farmers,” he challenged.

Tractor Rally Ripples In Haryana: Locals Want Protesting Farmers Gone

Upset over the violence in Delhi during Republic Day's tractor rally, a group of villages in Haryana have asked farmers protesting against the Centre's farm laws to vacate the nearby highway. The police had to step in to stop another flare-up. The villagers have given the protesters an ultimatum asking them to vacate the highway within 24 hours. The langar or community kitchen for the protesters has been shut and there is heavy police presence in the area.
