‘Agitation against farm laws going strong’
A fresh batch of farmers from Punjab started their march to the Delhi border on Monday to participate in the ongoing agitation against the Centre’s controversial farm laws.
Several groups of farmers from different regions mainly from Sangrur, Ludhiana, Mansa, Barnala, Patiala, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr and Ropar districts of Punjab left for the ‘Singhu and Tikri’ border of Delhi in vehicles.
Tens of thousands of farmers, mostly from Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh, have been camping at several places on the Delhi borders for many months, demanding a repeal of three farm laws.

Unions have announced protests across State on May 8. Farmer unions in Punjab have announced they will stage protests across the State on May 8 against the ongoing lockdown restrictions, even as Chief Minister Amarinder Singh warned of strict prosecution in case of violation of restrictions.
As many as 32 farmer organisations of Punjab, which have been at the forefront of the ongoing farmers’ agitation against the Centre’s farm laws, have appealed to all shopkeepers to open their shops as a mark of protest against the lockdown.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha, an umbrella body of protesting farmer unions spearheading the agitation against the agriculture-related legislations, on Friday gave a call for a 24-hour blockade of the KMP expressway.

The protesting farmers say the laws will weaken the minimum support price (MSP) system and leave them at the mercy of big corporates.
Intensifying their protest against the three farm laws, farmers blocked the Kundli–Manesar–Palwal expressway at some places in Haryana on Saturday.
The blockade started at 8 am and would last 24 hours.
