Center at Spring Street in Boyertown reopens for in-person programs

The Center at Spring Street, a program of the Boyertown Area Multi-Service, had its reopening event to celebrate the return of in-person programs on July 6. Members enjoyed a fun filled day of exercise classes with Fran Wieckowski, winning door prizes, playing pool and shuffleboard, playing cards and games with friends and so much more. After lunch, they were treated to live entertainment from the After All Duo Band. - Advertisement - The Center at Spring Street in Boyertown is now open daily for adults 55 and older for activities, exercise classes, fellowship among friends and nutritious hot lunches. The Center is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The Center is also open on Thursdays from 9 to 11 a.m. Grab and Go lunches are served Monday through Friday from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m.

Boyertown Area Multi-Service launches new Homelessness Task Force

Boyertown Area Multi-Service launched its new Homelessness Task Force thanks to a fundraising campaign with a matching donation from a local bank. During the month of March, the Multi-Service raised more than $14,000 through its Stronger Together Campaign. Ambler Savings Bank helped kick off the campaign by matching dollar-for-dollar every donation up to $5,000. Multi-Service teamed up with The United Way of Boyertown to prioritize homelessness as a critical need in the community by creating the Task Force to offer rapid response to those in crisis, the two organizations announced in a release. - Advertisement - Additionally, the Case Management Program has been revamped to reflect the needs of the community in regards to housing. This includes a 90 plus day program that stabilizes housing and addresses the barriers that created the issue in the first place.

Winners of the 67th Boyertown Citizen of the Year Awards have been announced with the Citizen of the Year Award going to Kim Slonaker. Also, First Responder of the Year has been awarded to Andrew Duncan; Mentor of the Year is Donnie Ellixson, Senior Student of the Year Co-Winners are Jake Dawson and Kelsey Brinckman, and the Special Recognition Award goes to the Optimist Club of Boyertown. “The purpose of the Citizen of the Year Awards is to honor and recognize people that are contributing to our community in big ways,” said Lindsey Mason of the Citizen of the Year board. “This year s winners are phenomenal additions to the decades of Citizen of the Year winners.
