SIR – About 500,000 vaccinations a day are being administered, thanks to the NHS and volunteers. Surely we should be aiming for double the figure, so individuals are protected sooner.
Or is there a shortage of vaccines that the Government is not wishing to disclose?
Raymond Williams
SIR – The head of the NHS is reported as saying that vaccination cannot go faster than supplies allow. The Department of Health and Social Care said: “There are no shortages of Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine, and deliveries are on time and as ordered.”
Hardware giant Bunnings has acquired the 61-year-old family-run tile and bathroomware franchise Beaumont Tiles.
In a statement on Thursday, Bunnings announced it was “pleased” to enter an agreement to buy the tile retailer, noting the acquisition depends on regulatory approval.
Beaumont Tiles is Australia’s largest tile retailer, with 115 outlets distributing across Australia as part of its network of franchises.
If the acquisition gets a green light from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), the tile franchise will remain “separate and distinct” to Bunnings.
Bob Beaumont, executive chair of Beaumont Tiles, said he was happy to have found an Australian company that could take over the business “in a way which would look after staff, franchisees, the culture and its future”.

Bunnings managing director Mike Schneider said the group would run Beaumont Tiles as a standalone business, separate to its chain of Bunnings stores nationwide. Beaumont Tiles has 115 retail stores around Australia and also runs large distribution centres in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.
Bunnings operates 380 hardware outlets, most of them in the âbig boxâ warehouse format, and will need approval from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) for the acquisition. Bunnings has a substantial range of tiles in its own stores.
âThe acquisition represents an opportunity to build on the success of the Beaumont Tiles business and invest in its future growth,â Mr Schneider said.
