TOWNSHEND â Itâs getting toward the end of the school year, but folks at Leland & Gray Union High School are already preparing for the next school year.
âThis past year we did âSenior Survival,ââ said Terry Davison Berger, the schoolâs multiple pathways coordinator. âBut that was for seniors only. We are hoping this grant from CFES Brilliant Pathways can help us facilitate more college and career readiness for grades 9 through 11.â
Leland & Gray was one of five Vermont schools that qualified for the program, which provides schools with a multi-faceted, comprehensive college readiness program. One of the requirements to qualify for the assistance is that a school demonstrates a commitment to making the program a success.
TOWNSHEND Karren Meyer, the driver education teacher at Leland & Gray Union Middle and High School, is a National Teacher of Excellence Award recipient.

TOWNSHEND â After state guidance on preventing COVID-19 infections was recently updated to allow for 3 feet of spacing between students rather than 6 feet, Leland & Gray Union Middle and High School will expand its in-person instruction after spring break.
âWe are planning four days a week after break,â Principal Bob Thibault said at the West River Education District Board meeting held remotely Monday. âThis is our fourth reopening of school that weâve planned for because we planned for live in the fall initially then had to pivot to planning for remote and then we had to plan to bring people back in February then had to plan to bring people back for more days in April.â
