Both other hunters got turkeys, so the group did better than the normal 27 percent success rate. Marchel must now wait three years before he can apply for another permit. APRIL 26 20 years ago (2001) A 17-year-old Brainerd teen was arrested yesterday after threatening to take a gun to Brainerd High School and kill students. The threats were not made on school grounds and he is not a student at the high school. He has been excluded from the school because of threats he made last fall.

It was used for hauling freight from the NP (Northern Pacific Railroad) depot to stores around town as well as for other kinds of moving. The picture was taken in front of the railroad freight office. Before the truck, Silas Hal used teams of horses and wagons which he kept at 415 Main (now Washington Street). Written By: Terry McCollough | × On Thanksgiving Day 24 years ago, Harold Peterson, then 15, was shot in the face by a .25-.35 bullet while hunting on the family Nokay Lake farm. The bullet lodged in his neck near the spine and it was too dangerous to remove. Recently he noticed a sore throat. Then yesterday while at the American Legion he coughed, and coughed-up the bullet. JANUARY 13 20 years ago (2001) Gas prices in the area took a significant jump yesterday, mirroring fuel cost increases from a year ago. Several gas stations increased prices from $1.44 to $1.63 per gallon overnight. Last January, gas prices rose from $1.20 to $1.39, eventually topping out in the $2.00 range by mid-summer.
