Cassie A SINGLE mum and home educator has penned the third book in a new series of affordable cutting-edge poetry books. Cassie Fielding, 40, from St Helens, said she was ecstatic that her book The Arbitrary Fractals of an Oracle was chosen to help kick start the international series. “It’s the thrill of a lifetime to have my own book of surrealistic poetry published alongside so many highly regarded international poets,” she added. Wolverhampton based publisher Nic Outterside’s Cast Iron Poetry series aims to recreate the world-famous City Lights publications of the 1950s and 60s; in an effort to make printed poetry affordable for everyone.

Last month, Tongo Eisen-Martin was named San Francisco poet laureate. The poet, educator and movement worker is the eighth person to hold the post since Lawrence Ferlinghetti was first appointed to the role in 1998.
Born and raised in the city, Eisen-Martin has described himself and his poetry as “an absolute product of every nook and cranny of San Francisco.” His critically acclaimed second book “Heaven Is All Goodbyes” was published under the acclaimed mantle of City Lights’ Pocket Poets Series. It was awarded the 2018 California Book Award for Poetry.
