CHUBBUCK — A local man was arrested earlier this month after police say he broke into a farming and hunting supply store in the Pine Ridge Mall. Cody Winterbottom, 32, of Shelley, has been charged with one count of felony burglary for the incident, which began to unfold around 6:15 a.m. on Dec. 19, according to a Chubbuck Police Department news release. Chubbuck Police officers were dispatched to C-A-L Ranch at 4115 Yellowstone Ave. for the report of an alarm activation, police said. Gunnar Von Schriltz, 20, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor enticing of children, and Magistrate Judge Thomas Clark ordered the jail time and 18 months of supervised probation. As part of a plea agreement made with Bannock County Prosecutors, a felony charge of children enticement was reduced to a misdemeanor. The sentence given by Clark was 120 days, but 90 of them were suspended. Court records show Von Schriltz already spent 15-days in the Bannock County Jail, so that means he will only have to spend just over two more weeks behind bars.

PIT maneuver ends Pocatello police chase

The suspect, Gabreil Burris, 23, of Pocatello, was arrested on a charge of eluding officers. × Story continues below video Police said a patrol officer encountered Burris within the 1200 block of East Terry Street at 2:45 a.m. and attempted to make a traffic stop. Burris allegedly failed to stop and led the officer on a pursuit. The pursuit continued onto Interstate 15, where Pocatello police reportedly deployed spike strips. The pursuit ended near milepost 71 in the vicinity of Chubbuck, when an officer used a patrol car to make a PIT maneuver, which is a pursuit tactic that entails nudging the back end of a fleeing vehicle with a police vehicle, causing it to abruptly turn sideways and come to a stop. Burris was transported to Portneuf Medical Center to be medically cleared before he was taken to Bannock County Jail, police said.

Pocatello man charged with two sex crimes for allegedly molesting 9-year-old girl

POCATELLO — A local man was arrested Wednesday after police say he molested a 9-year-old girl several times over the last few months, according to court records the Idaho State Journal obtained Thursday. Dean Stewart Anderson, 37, of Pocatello, was arraigned Thursday in Bannock County Magistrate Court on two felony counts of lewd conduct with a minor child under age 16, court records say. The charges against Anderson stem from a Pocatello police investigation that began to unfold on Dec. 4 and was launched in connection to a Child Protective Services incident, according to police reports the Journal obtained Thursday. × Story continues below video
