Vinod Rao inspecting ventilators in Vadodara on Monday Vadodara: The Vadodara city and district had 106 ICU beds vacant including those located outside the city and in government facilities. Figures on the beds availability dashboard of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) on Monday late evening revealed that out of 106 beds, the GMERS Gotri Hospital had 39 vacant beds, the highest in any hospital in the city. But the number of beds in the largest government hospital in the region, the SSG Hospital (SSGH) had shrunk to merely two beds. Preparations are being done on a war footing to ensure that the number of ICU beds go up significantly soon. The number of beds include 12 outside the city in facilities in Padra, Pipariya and Dabhoi.

The 27-yera-old victim, Kapila Mali’s, body was fished out from a canal near Sangma village in the evening. Following a complaint lodged by her mother Sharda, police detained Mali’s husband Babu and mother-in-law Ganga were detained on Thursday for driving her to suicide. The couple’s youngest daughter is three months old while the eldest is eight. When Mali was pregnant with her fourth child, Babu, who does not work, had asked her to kill their daughters and end her life too if the fourth child also turns out to be a baby girl. As Mali facing severe mental torture during the crucial stage of pregnancy, her mother Sharda brought her to her home in Kalali.

Appliances stolen from electronic shop | Vadodara News

Vadodara: Burglars targeted an electronics shop in Padra town in the wee hours of Sunday and decamped with appliances worth Rs 38,015. Police said that two thieves broke into the shop near VUDA crossroads sometime around 4 am on Sunday. The duo stole an LED television, two air coolers, seven mobile phones and two music systems. The owner of the shop Vrajesh Patel learnt about the burglary at 10 am when he received delivery of refrigerators. The deliveryman called Patel asking where he was since the shop was open. Patel was initially shocked as the shop was closed for Sunday. When he reached the shop, it came to light that there was a theft.
