KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 21 The Health ministry announced 2,018 new Covid-19 cases the third-highest in a day since the pandemic hit Malaysia. Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham said Selangor topped the list once again recording 1,204 new cases with 1,115 cases coming from existing clusters. “Selangor recorded the highest number of daily Covid-19 at 1,204, followed by Johor at 278 and Sabah at 247,” he said in a press briefing.

There were 1,204 cases in Selangor alone. Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 1,084 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 78,393. ADVERTISEMENT In a press conference, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 95,327. There are 16,496 active cases with 109 patients being treated in intensive care and 55 requiring respiratory assistance. Meanwhile, the one death brings the death toll to 438. The death involved a 50-year-old foreign man. He died at Hospital Tuaran in Sabah and did not have any pre-existing medical conditions.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 21 The Health Ministry has detected eight new clusters in the Klang Valley as well as in Labuan and Penang. Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said five of the new clusters straddled Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. He said the Pekapuri cluster was detected in Gombak, Selangor during a targeted workplace screening today while the Tower cluster was spreading across both Gombak and Sepang.
