Tehran, May 16 : A total of 592 people have registered for the 13th presidential polls in Iran, Jamal Orf, head of the country s election campaign, said.
Out of the total candidates, 40 are women and 552 are men, Xinhua news agency quoted Orf as saying in a statement on Saturday.
On Saturday, the last day of the registration process, three senior political figures announced their bid for the June 18 election.
Judiciary Chief Ebrahim Raisi as a principlist candidate, First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri as a reformist candidate, and former Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani as a moderate conservative political figure officially registered for the campaign.

I am coming (to elections) for providing openings in the life of people, development of Iran and to start a new phase for reforms, Jahangiri was quoted by the official IRNA news agency as saying on the sidelines of his registration.
Over the past years, Iran has faced various problems, and is currently in need of real openings in people s livelihood and comprehensive development of the country, he added.

TEHRAN, May 15 (Xinhua) Former Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani registered for Iran s upcoming presidential campaign on Saturday, the last day of the registration process.
Larijani served as the speaker of the Iranian Parliament from 2008 to 2020, and currently serves as an advisor to Iran s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The problems of country cannot be solved with populist dramatic actions, Larijani was quoted as saying by the official IRNA news agency on the sidelines of his registration.
One important issue in the country is to create national unity and solidarity in the absence of which development cannot be achieved, he said.

He arrived at the Iranian Interior Ministry s election headquarters here on Saturday, the last day of the registration process, to sign up to run in the election on June 18. Seeing the living conditions of the people; the issues of unemployment, high prices, the people s livelihood, and the economic situation are a major cause for concern, Raisi was quoted by Iranian news network Press TV as saying.
