POTSDAM â Kristin Towne will be swapping one principal position for another.
Ms. Towne, who has been serving as principal in the Hammond Central School District was named high school principal in the Potsdam Central School District during a special board of education meeting on Tuesday.
She takes over for Mark R. Bennett, who had been named to the new position of assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction. The position was established during the boardâs June meeting.
The new position replaces the former director of curriculum of instruction after Nicole Weakfall accepted an elementary principal position in the Madrid-Waddington Central School District.

POTSDAM Potsdam Central School District voters approved the 2021-22 budget 340-55 on Tuesday. The budget is $35,815,351.
District residents named Joshua Fiske, James Hubbard and Lynzie Schulte to the school board with 324, 315 and 70 votes respectively. Schulte was named to the board as a write-in candidate. I am grateful for the support of the Potsdam community, said PCS Superintendent Joann Chambers. POTSDAM District voters in the Potsdam Central School District will turn out on May 18 to vote on school board candidates.
Potsdam has two incumbents running and three seats open on the board. Voting is from 12-8 p.m.

Josh Fiske has been a resident of the Potsdam Central School District for 21 years and is currently employed as the chief information officer at Clarkson University.
Fiske’s three daughters Meredith, Charlotte, and Norah are students in the Potsdam school district, and his wife, Rebecca, has been a high school English teacher for nearly 15 years.
