Alcohol delivery is now a reality in Athens-Clarke County, as a number of stores are, or soon will be, accepting online orders for beer, wine, liquor, and spirits.
According to Trent Walls, founder of Athens-based Cosmic Delivery Service, there is a rollout plan in place that includes 10 area package stores, with restaurants to follow in January or February pending Cosmic s ability to meet additional requirements that apply under the new law.
As of Monday, Dec. 14, Cork and Bottle Package Store, Northside Bottle Shop , Perry s Bottle Shop, and Spirits on Washington are all accepting delivery orders either through their respective websites, or directly through Cosmic at ordercosmic.com/package stores.

PORTLAND, Ore. Businesses deserve some serious recognition for the way many of them have pivoted to stay afloat during the pandemic shutdown.
In Portland, there s been a trend of wine shops taking their weekly tastings virtual, and providing contactless wine delivery ahead of time. I ve been working in wine for almost 25 years now, said Travis Motter, who was a sommelier at former Portland restaurant Simpatica, and helped launch Laurelhurst Market with his wine knowledge.

ROCHESTER, Minn. - Hundreds of small businesses have closed their doors since the pandemic began. For one in Rochester though, it s doing the exact opposite.
Inside the new Jack s Bottle Shop, you ll find craft beer from local breweries, Little Thistle, Thesis and LTS. The owner, Jack Lester, is no stranger to craft beer. He worked at Forager Brewery for five years and began working on this project about a year ago. He explained starting a business helped him stay busy, but it s also helping out other businesses currently struggling. I m hoping it can give people a lot of light in the midst of a pandemic and also help other local breweries sustain business and keep beer flowing, keep beer being brewed and flowing through their establishment and being able to release a lot of their beer

Dame reopens for the winter as a deli and bottle shop
After a busy summer slinging fish, chips, and other English fare, West Village pop-up Dame is back for the winter season. In the second iteration of their pop-up, co-owner Patricia Howard and chef Ed Szymanski are reopening as a deli and bottle shop, offering bottled negronis, local produce, and pantry staples from newly opened restaurants in the neighborhood. There’s no clear end date to the concept, but Szymanski, an alum of Greenpoint’s well-received Cherry Point, is bringing a revamped menu to the pop-up, one that includes conservas marinated and smoked seafood available by the half-pint along with several seafood soups. His sought-after fish and chips will be making a comeback, as well, though as a special served only on Fridays and Saturdays.
