State Minister receives father’s Independence Award 119 DHAKA, May 20, 2021 (BSS)- State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Zahid Ahsan Russell MP today received Independence Award 2021 on behalf of his father shaheed Ahsanullah Master. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given the Independence Award to nine eminent persons and an organization. She handed over the award at an informal ceremony at her official residence of Ganabhaban. Four of the recipients received the awards posthumously. These awards were given to those who contributed to the war of independence and liberation. They recipients are Shaheed Ahsanullah Master, AKM Fazlur Rahman, Brigadier General Khurshid Ahmed and Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu while the others are Dr Munmoy Guha Neyogi (science and technology), Mahadev Saha (literature), Ataur Rahman and Gazi Mazharul Anwar((culture) and professor M Amzad Hossain (social service).
