Early voting opens for Mountain Home special election

Early voting on a pair of proposals to improve Mountain Home s parks begins Tuesday and continues through Monday, March 8. Mountain Home residents are being asked to approve or deny two proposed taxes to benefit the city s parks programs. The first, a temporary 0.5 percent sales tax, would be used to fund improvements to the city s parks and build a community center at McCabe Park. Voters will also be asked to approve a permanent, 0.25 percent sales tax that would help fund the ongoing operation of the city s Parks Department. Early voting for the two proposals will be held at the Baxter County Courthouse. The courthouse is located at 1 E. 7th Street in Mountain Home and is open 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on weekdays and is closed on weekends. An absentee ballot for the special election may be requested from the Baxter County Clerk s Office by calling (870) 425-3475 or visiting them in person at the courthouse.
