KARACHI: If the Pakistan Steel Mill Oxygen Plant were running, it would be able to provide oxygen to hospitals in Pakistan today; it was the views of Pakistan Steel employees and workers’ union leaders.
Pakistan Steel employees and workers’ union leaders have urged the government to reactivate the Steel Mills oxygen plant. They said that in the current situation, the demand for oxygen can be met all over Pakistan by activating the Pakistan Steel Oxygen Plant and it will help to end the black marketing of oxygen. It may be mentioned here that due to the worsening coronavirus situation in the country, the hospitals are seeking more oxygen cylinders to treat the growing number of Covid-19 patients.

Pakistan Oxygen to build multi-million electrode plant in Karachi
>Business Recorder, the Board of Directors of Pakistan Oxygen Limited in its meeting held today (Monday) has approved an investment plan of about Rs417.5 million for setting up a new electrode manufacturing facility (the “Plant”) in Karachi.
The company informed that the plant would feature the latest European technology and is expected to commence production by early 2022.
The company added that it is already engaged in the manufacture of quality welding consumables and sale of welding machines and allied accessories.
“
With the proposed expansion, the company’s capacity and capability in the welding and hardgoods segment will be enhanced to better meet the growing demand for quality electrodes in the country,” it stated.
