On the third Saturday of each month, Indie South, a local boutique carrying hand-crafted goods, hosts a craft market called Abnormal Bazaar.Â
From 11 a.m.-3 p.m., attendants can shop from vendors selling anything from ceramics to woven goods. While browsing for items of interest, shoppers can sip on coffee and chow down on pastries from Hendershotâs and Sun Cat Sweets, two other local businesses.Â

Standing over a colorful assortment of t-shirts, Amaree Gartrell is one of the youngest entrepreneurs to display their products at the Athens Black Market in College Square Avenue. It was a spur of the moment thing, Gartrell, 16, said of his decision to start his own business during the pandemic last year.
He was joined by an array of Black business owners and vendors as part of the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement s event on Saturday.
Like other owners that day, Gartrell s business a clothing line called AG33Line represented his personal story. Emblazoned across his products is the image of a lion surrounded by Gartrell s motto: always hungry, never satisfied. He said the saying was created after facing his own hardships growing up.
