The fact that Warner Bros has found a new treatment for the last son of Krypton should be applauded.
Within the first minutes of this superhero series set in the Arrowverse franchise, the origin is deftly told and we get the big premise - Clark Kent/Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) are parents.
Fans of comics lore might also like the genuinely well-executed homage to Superman s debut on the cover of 1938 s Action Comics No1.
Their children are part of an insidious throng that has long threatened to upset peace and stability the world over - they are teenagers.
Complexities arise when a potential escape to a shelter at a military base goes wrong due to Nathan’s ineligibility because of a chronic medical condition that splits the family up and finds John and Alison (with Nathan) forced to fend for themselves and try to reunite.
Considering our current pandemic predicament, it’s easy to embrace the concept of the film, especially when early on experts emphasized that there was nothing to worry about, as well as thoroughly empathize with the family’s plight.
And in a breath of fresh air, unlike many disaster films showing famous landmarks pummeled, the story focuses on the characters, their panic, anguish and horror as a nail-biting collapse of society occurs due to man’s inhumanity (humans truly are sickening these days).

Wonder Woman 1984 has been quite the lightning rod since its release. On the one hand, there’s the epic scope, complex romance, rousing score, and positive messages. It also has an incredible cast including Gal Gadot, Kirsten Wiig, Chris Pine, and Pedro Pascal. On the other hand, some have criticised the visual effects as well the film’s numerous, and often confusing, twists and turns. While all of those things are up for debate, for us, one other point stands out as the best thing the film has going for it.
